Overall, the feedback showed that:
- Many customers like the location of Sawyers Close and its proximity to the centre of Windsor. This provides easy access to workplaces, shops and schools.
- A number of responses were positive about the green space around the buildings and in the wider area.
- Anti-social behaviour in the area is causing concern to many. This includes noise and drug use.
- We received different suggestions as to what we could do to improve Sawyers Close including: a new heating system, improvements to lifts and the replacement of drainage pipes.
- In terms of the future of Sawyers Close, most of those who responded expressed support for redeveloping the estate.
Here is a summary of the feedback that we received for each question.
Question 1: What are three things that you like about living at Sawyers Close?
The most common responses that we received to this question raised the following topics:
- Sawyers Close is well located and makes it easy to get to work, the shops and local schools.
- There are good parking facilities at Sawyers Close.
- Lots of people like the view from their flat and the green space around Sawyers Close.
- The homes at Sawyers Close are a good size with plenty of space.
- There is a sense of community with friendships among neighbours.
Question 2: What are three things that you don’t like about living at Sawyers Close?
The most common responses that we received to this question raised the following topics:
- Many of the communal areas within the buildings are untidy and people fly tip in the area.
- Noise is a problem on the estate, sometimes at unsociable hours.
- Anti-social behaviour is a problem.
- Parking spaces are not always available.
- Security at communal entrances could be improved, including CCTV cameras.
Question 3: What could Abri do to improve life for you and your neighbours at Sawyers Close?
The most common responses received to this question were:
- Redevelop the estate.
- Address anti-social behaviour in the area.
- Update the interiors of the homes at Sawyers Close.
- Carry out additional consultation with residents.
Question 4: Where do you see yourself living in five years’ time?
The most common responses to this question showed that customers expected to be renting their home from Abri at Sawyers Close. There was also a variety of other responses under ‘E) Other’ of which the most common of the answers included renting from Abri elsewhere.
Question 5: When you think of where you live, what three words come to mind?
Responses to this question covered a wide variety of different themes including: cleanliness of the estate, concern at drug use, the need for repairs and noise at unsociable times.
Question 6: How would you rate the quality of your own home on a scale of 1 to 10, where 1 is very poor and 10 is excellent?
We received a wide variety of different ratings in response to this question. This is shown by the overall average rating of 4.73.
Question 7: Why did you say this and what do you think is needed to fix it? Think big, assume money is no object.
The most common responses received to this question were:
- A new heating system is needed at Sawyers Close.
- There are regular problems with pipework that require improvement.
- Windows require improvements to improve insulation.
- Some homes have problems with damp that need repairs.
Question 8: How would you rate the quality of the estate and its facilities on a scale of 1 to 10, where 1 is very poor and 10 is excellent?
The overall average rating received in response to this question was 4.
Question 9: Why did you say this and what is needed to fix it
Common answers given to this question included:
- The estate needs to be cleaned regularly.
- More things need to be provided for people to do.
- The appearance of the estate needs updating.
Question 10: Please rank suggested options for the future of Sawyers Close. Rankings run from 1 to 5, where 1 is your least preferred option and 5 is your most preferred.
Across the responses that we received; the most popular choice was ‘D) Redevelopment of the entire estate’ (an average ranking of 4.32). The least popular was ‘B) A programme of repairs to shared facilities on the estate’ (an average ranking of 2.79).

The overwhelmingly most popular option among the feedback that we received was that respondents would be ‘very pleased’ if we were to redevelop the entire estate. This amounted to over 80% of the responses received to this question.
Next steps
We need to think further about what customers told us before we agree on future plans for Sawyers Close. We are still at an early stage and will be consulting further on any decisions that we reach.
